MyGeoTrust |
The vision of MyGeoTrust is to create an alternative mobile platform for location-based services that ensures excellent privacy protections for its users. We call this “privacy by design”. We also aim to build up a strong relationship of trust with our user community. Our primary method of trust-building is being transparent about what data we collect and who has access to it. We call this “trust through transparency”. Putting these concepts together, we believe we can bring about a transformation in the ecosystem of crowdsourced mobile data.
Currently, the MyGeoTrust platform is released as a beta version, which allows users to try out the following: ★ You can use one of the default privacy profiles or create your own customized (user defined) privacy profiles, controlling how the platform accesses and handles location and WiFi data. ★ You can specify different configuration parameters in each of the profiles to control privacy and data collection. For example: - Allow or deny access of sensitive device resources (e.g., GPS and WiFi) to any third-party MyGeoTrust application. - Create a log of location and WiFi scan data on our secure MyGeoTrust servers, either as anonymized data or personalized data, which you can then access from any device using your secure username and password. - Control the data collection frequency, as well as enabling or disabling sharing of the data with third parties. |
Several other apps are simultaneously being launched which allow real-time visualization and monitoring of data crowdsourced by MyGeoTrust according to the users' privacy settings. For example, check out "HelloMyGeoTrust" also available from the Play Store.
All third-party applications that are built on top of the MyGeoTrust platform are governed by the privacy settings of the active MyGeoTrust privacy profile. For example, check out the #hylo app, an innovative geo-social app built on top of MyGeoTrust.

HelloMyGeoTrust |
HelloMyGeoTrust is a demonstration tool to illustrate the current features and capabilities of the MyGeoTrust service. It offers some simple but useful features to visualize geospatial data collected by the MyGeoTrust service.
This application is built on top of MyGeoTrust platform and all its functionalities are governed by the privacy profile settings of MyGeoTrust. Any changes in the active profile of the service will affect the way HelloMyGeoTrust behaves, as well as any other app utilising the MyGeoTrust platform. The current release of HelloMyGeoTrust offers the following features: - You can see a map-based view of their personal location data collected by the MyGeoTrust service and stored securely on our servers. - You can see a map-based of all public / anonymized data collected by the MyGeoTrust service. - You can view in real-time your current location and WiFi scan data on a map interface. - You can view in real-time other anonymized MyGeoTrust users who have chosen to publicly share their location information. - You can view a list of available WiFi access points, including their signal strength, at your current information. |
